Porjus
is the gateway to Laponia, the Lapland World Heritage site,
and Porjus is a meeting place. Gällivare is 50 km -
half an hour - away, and has good air and rail connections.
45 km in the other direction lies Jokkmokk, an important
Saami (Lappish) community and site of Ájtte - mountain
and Saami museum.
The national parks Muddus, Sarek, Stora Sjöfallet and
Padjelanta, if not visible from here, are at least within
a stone's throw of Hotell Porjus. The River Lule - a source
of power and recreation - flows past your hotel window.
